DELICIOUS Black Bean Hummus (vegan)

Ever since I started making my own hummus and realized how much yummier it is compared to store-bought hummus, it’s hard to go back! All you do is throw all the ingredients in a food processor….and you can season to taste as well. This black bean hummus is so clean and nutritious and makes for a perfect snack! Here are the ingredients and the steps.

INGREDIENTS FOR BLACK BEAN HUMMUS

1 can of black beans, drained (does not have to be rinsed)

2.5-3 tbsp tahini

1.5-2 tbsp olive oil + more to drizzle on top (optional, but yummy)

1-2 garlic cloves, minced

1/2 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp fine pink salt or sea salt (or to taste, you may want a touch more!)

1/2 tsp coriander

1/4 tsp smoked paprika

Dash of cayenne (for a touch of heat!)

Juice of 1 lime (lemon may also work)

2 tbsp water (more or less, depending on the thickness of the hummus and how you prefer your consistency)

METHOD

Grab your food processor with S blade. Mince your garlic. Place the minced garlic, seasonings (salt, cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne), tahini, lime juice, olive oil all in the food processor and pulse for about 30 seconds or so. Next, take your drained black beans and pour those into the food processor and pulse again 30 seconds up to 1 minute, taking a break to use a spatula and scrape the sides down to get everything blended well. Add the water, small amounts at a time. Taste test. Add more salt if needed. Blend some more until desired consistency is reached.

Pour into a bowl or glass container for storage and easy dipping. Top with extra sprinkle of smoked paprika, sea salt and olive oil drizzle if desired. Yum!

I love to have hummus on hand and make it just about every week. Dip celery sticks, red bell pepper, or the occasional chip in it!
