Almond Butter Bar

I am working to create the perfect protein bar. This is my first attempt at one! They are made with high quality ingredients and no refined sugar whatsoever because I need real food snacks to fuel me throughout the day and refined sugar provides no health benefits.

It is important not to eat protein bars that have added artificial ingredients because they are detrimental to our health, lead to abdominal fat gain, further sugary cravings, as well as intestinal discomfort. I study each ingredient on the foods I purchase to ensure they are completely natural and REAL – because my body will know how to process it.

INGREDIENTS – makes 6 small bars – (feel free to double recipe to make more if you love it)

  • 1/2 cup crunchy almond butter (Trader Joe’s)
  • 10 chopped medjool dates
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder – Equip
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted (Island Fresh brand or Nutiva good options)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp pink salt

METHOD

Put your dates in a food processor and process until combined. Now add your remaining ingredients and blend until smooth, scraping sides down as needed. Now press the mixture into a small baking dish (mine was about 6×6 or so).

Freeze for 30 minutes and store the bars in the fridge. Enjoy!
